Writing Update

You know what is more difficult than writing a monthly newsletter? Keeping up with this site!! Monthly newsletters are fun and easy, and only come once a month. Plus its fun to give out exclusive information to people who want it! But keeping everything updated on here to keep non-subscribers and new visitors updated? That takes a bit more forethought and work. Plus I don’t have the excitement of sharing fun secrets with you!

But no worries. I’m back and here is my most recent updates about my writing:

I have had a minor setback in my publishing plans. My goal to submit Lies of the Haven to a couple of small publishers by April will have to wait til September 1st due to one of the publishers putting a limit on manuscript submissions until that date.

But have no fear! I am still working on writing! In fact I am working on the sequel to Lies of the Haven! Yes there will be a book 2. Hopefully by the end of book 1 you will be dying to find out what happens next! The good news with a later publishing date will be that the release dates between book 1 and 2 will be closer together! I already have about 30,000 words written in book 2, so I’m plugging right along! Plus, Lies of the Haven is getting a thorough editing run through with a new editing program I purchased for my birthday!

On top of that I have picked up a manuscript that I had set aside for a while. This story is a futuristic Sci-fi about telepathic aliens that have taken over the earth and enslaved mankind. The book is written from a dual perspective. It follows both Shaylynn and Kels. It explores themes such as freedom, self-determinism, what it means to be human, human history and being able to let go of the past. There is also quite a healthy dose of both action and romance. So that’s fun. I’m not sure what I’m going to call it yet, so polling for title names might be in order in the near future!

Anyway, just thought I’d update all you non-subscribers on my writing! Next month, my monthly newsletter will be all about Lies of the Haven. I will discuss not only the premise but also some of the information of how the story came to be as well as my plans for future books! If you are interested in signing up, please go to my main page and enter in your email address! To go to the main page, click here.

Thanks to all you wonderful supporters out there! I can’t wait to share my writing with you!

JA Curtis has always loved writing stories. One of her greatest dreams as a child was to have a book published. She never knew if that dream would become a reality. There were times when she stopped writing and thought she had given it up for good, but she always found herself coming back to it. So she has decided to share those stories in the hope that others might enjoy them as much as she does! When she’s not writing or re-watching ATLA for the 100th time, she is spending time with her husband and two daughters, or trying to live her life with half as much determination as Mina.
